About BlacBridge
Technique, training and tactics for people who actually play.
BlacBridge is written for the player who trains twice a week, plays a league match at the weekend, and would like to be measurably better in six months.
That player is badly served. Tennis coverage splits into tour reporting, which is entertaining but rarely applicable, and drill videos filmed by people with unlimited court time. What is missing is the middle: clear, honest explanations of technique, tactics, fitness and equipment for someone with a job and a two-hour weekly slot.
What we publish
- Technique explained in terms of what the body does and why, not just what it looks like.
- Drills that work with one partner, one basket of balls, and a court booked for an hour.
- Tactics, which is where club matches are actually won and lost.
- Fitness and injury prevention, written by someone who has managed real athletes through real injuries.
- Equipment testing that is honest about how small most differences are.
How we work
Every coaching article is reviewed by a qualified coach before publication. Equipment articles state clearly whether a product was bought, borrowed or supplied. We do not run sponsored reviews, and where we use affiliate links they are labelled on the page.
We also try to be honest about uncertainty. Coaching contains a great deal of confident opinion and comparatively little evidence. Where something is a preference rather than a proven method, we say so.
Who writes here
Nuno Ferreira
Head of coaching content
Twenty years coaching at national federation level across juniors and adults. Believes most club players lose points to positioning long before technique.
Sofia Marchetti
Performance and fitness editor
Strength and conditioning specialist who worked with touring professionals for eight years. Writes about movement, injury prevention and load management.
Rhys Calloway
Equipment and tour writer
Former stringer turned journalist. Tests racquets, strings and shoes and reports what the marketing leaves out.
Our standard for a drill
Before a drill appears on this site it must pass three tests: it can be run with two players on one court, it targets a specific identified weakness, and there is a way to tell whether it is working. Drills that only produce a pleasant rhythm do not make it.
Funding
BlacBridge is funded by display advertising and clearly labelled affiliate links. Brands do not see articles before publication and have no influence over what we conclude.
Get in touch
Coaching questions, corrections and equipment tips are all welcome through the contact page. If we get something wrong, the correction goes at the top of the article.
